Join us as we ride past different pop-up community spaces in Austin, Humboldt Park, and North Lawndale.
⏰ Sunday, Oct. 12, 1pm
📍 Meet at 5257 W. Chicago Ave.
Our route is planned here. We travel at the pace of the slowest rider. Divvy bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, and scooters and all welcome. Registration is not required, so if you haven’t registered come anyway.
Help us know how many people to expect by quickly RSVP’ing here (https://www.easy-rsvp.com/9rup6R-pop-up-bike-ride) and follow our social media for day-of event notifications.
We’ll start at Austin POPCourts (departing at 1pm), swing by West Humboldt POP (passing by ~1:20pm), and end at the Lawndale Pop-Up Spot (by 2pm). This route will also take us past the future site of a road diet and bike lane project on Chicago Avenue.
Remember that due to the Chicago Marathon, bikes may not be allowed on CTA trains throughout the day. CTA buses should still allow up to two bikes on the front racks, but may be delayed or rerouted. Find more information from the CTA here.

We will arrive in time for the Poetics of Place, an event from the Chicago Humanities Festival touring the Chicago Sukkah Design Festival. One of the pavilions this year is a partnered collaboration with Working Bikes titled “Pedal and Pause”.
You can register for this free event from CHF here: https://www.chicagohumanities.org/events/attend/sukkah-design-festival/

After the event, Working Bikes will be hosting a ride to see past sukkahs around Lawndale, starting and ending at the Pop-Up Spot. This is a great chance to see the North Lawndale Neighborhood Bike Network, an early example of a CDOT’s quick-build network strategy.
